Surgery Providers
Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons- Small Animal
JT Vida, D.V.M.

Dr. Vida is a graduate of the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a small animal medical and surgical internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego, CA before returning to UC Davis to complete a residency in small animal surgery. He then worked for two years as a clinical instructor in the surgery department at UC Davis before entering private practice in the Sacramento region. Dr. Vida’s special interests are cruciate ligament disease (TPLO-tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, Arthrex TightRope system), limb deformities, vascular anomalies, oncologic surgery and minimally invasive surgery such as arthroscopy, thoracoscopy and laparoscopy.

During his free time, Dr. Vida enjoys almost all outdoor activities including running, biking, skiing, hiking, kayaking and scuba. He is particularly attached to his 200-gallon reef tank and spends as much time as possible with his wife, kids and pets.


Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons
Shannon Kerrigan, V.M.D.

Dr. Kerrigan is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a small animal medical and surgical internship at the University of Pennsylvania before moving to the west coast to complete a residency in small animal surgery at the University of California at Davis. She is trained in orthopedic, neurologic, soft tissue and minimally invasive procedures. She has a special interest in surgical oncology and wound repair and has conducted research in the field of bone biomechanics.

During her free time, Dr. Kerrigan loves traveling, exploring the west coast and hiking with her husband, Wes. Together they have a few cats and a dog.

Andrea Cannon, D.V.M.

Dr. Cannon received her bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis. After an internship in Southern California, she completed a residency in veterinary dermatology at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Cannon is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology. While in residency, Dr. Cannon was awarded a fellowship in human dermatology at the University of Miami School of Medicine. After completing her residency, Dr. Cannon spent a year teaching dermatology at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital in Davis. Dr. Cannon has a special interest in laser surgery, immunology and allergy. She has spoken at veterinary conferences worldwide including The Netherlands, Czech Republic, South Korea and numerous conferences in the US. Dr. Cannon began her private dermatology practice in 1997 and maintains her main practice in Rocklin, (Sacramento) CA. She also maintains practices in Modesto, Ca. Fresno, Ca. and Boise Idaho. In their free time, Dr. Cannon and her husband enjoy hiking and flying airplanes.

Diana Simões, D.V.M.

Dr. Simões earned her Bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College in Ohio. After working in West Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer for two years, she knew she wanted to pursue veterinary medicine. In 2009, she obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California at Davis. After graduation, Dr. Simões completed an internship at Veterinary Medical and Surgical Group in Ventura, California. After working in general practice for a few years she soon discovered her love for dermatology and pursued a veterinary dermatology internship in the New Jersey area, followed by a three-year residency with Dermatology for Animals. Dr. Simoes is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology.

Dr. Simoes enjoys managing feline and canine allergic patients. She has a special interest in feline allergy, allergic otitis, and laser therapy. She has extensive training in cryotherapy and laser surgery, specifically treating cases of solar dermatitis, squamous cell carcinoma, and pododermatitis.

Although originally a New York and Portugal native, Dr. Simões calls California her home where she lives with her husband, two kids, and three defective pets. She enjoys learning new languages, cooking, and traveling.

Brian MacKie, D.V.M.

Dr. MacKie, DVM received his DVM from Washington State University in 2005. Following a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery, he completed his residency training in Cardiology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. During his time there, Dr. MacKie helped to implement the use of the Amplatz Canine Ductal Occluder for non-invasive treatment of congenital heart disease and assisted in prospective research on pulmonary hypertension and cardiac biomarkers. His clinical interests include echocardiography and electrocardiography (ECG), pulmonary hypertension in dogs, syncope (fainting) associated with heart disease and arrhythmia, congenital heart disease, and congestive heart failure (CHF).

Marilyn Koski D.V.M.

Dr. Marilyn Koski graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1992 with special interest in small animal and exotic species medicine. Dr. Koski completed her certification in Veterinary Acupuncture in 2007 and her certification in Canine Physical Rehabilitation in 2013.

From 1999 to 2010 Dr. Koski was a member of the clinical faculty at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in the Exotic Animal Service. From 2010 to 2015 she worked at the Integrative Medicine Service and helped to develop the first small and exotic acupuncture service at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. In 2013 integrative medicine training was included in the veterinary curriculum at UC Davis

For the past 27 years, she has worked in private practice in California and as consulting veterinarian in zoo facilities in the US, Hong Kong, Australia and Thailand. Dr. Koski has also worked with marine mammals in US rehabilitation facilities, private international aquaria, and she was a member of an international marine research team in the Antarctic.

Dr. Koski now devotes her professional services full time to rehabilitation and pain management for dogs, cats and companion exotic animal species. Her services include acupuncture (dry needle, aquapuncture and electro acupuncture), low level laser therapy (Class 3 and 4), TENS, manual therapies and therapeutic exercise.
